Economic Development

Expanding a state or local economy requires more than good intentions. It requires a plan based in reality. It requires community engagement and understanding, especially (but not exclusively) among the elected and appointed public officials and senior business leadership of the community. It requires a willingness to challenge old ways with best-in-class practices that have succeeded elsewhere. It requires commitment to real results and the capacity to deliver them.

In addition to the strategic communications services Vehr Communications can provide to economic development organizations, we work in a strategic partnership with other professionals to provide the following economic development services:

  • Strategic planning
  • Capital campaign design, development and management
  • Relocations, expansions, credit and incentives negotiations
  • Organizational design and performance
  • Organizational leadership development
  • Public/private partnerships design, development and management

Vehr Communications has worked with some of America’s leading economic development consulting firms.  Nick Vehr, president of Vehr Communications, is the former vice president of economic development and marketing for the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber where he led the Cincinnati region’s $25-million, 5-year regional economic development initiative.  He is a former elected member of Cincinnati City Council and former Board Chair of the Cincinnati USA Convention and Visitors Bureau.  In addition, Vehr helped to form the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority and, then, served on its Board of Directors for nearly 6 years.
